A biotech startup specializing in AI-driven genomic medicine development, WhiteLab Genomics, has successfully completed a $26 million Series B funding round. The investment was spearheaded by AVP, with contributions from first-time backers Yaday Health and Blast Club, alongside returning supporters Omnes and Debiopharm.

François Robinet, AVP’s managing partner, and Dr. Daniel Teper, who serves as managing partner at Yaday Health and is the founder and CEO of NAYA Therapeutics, have both taken seats on WhiteLab’s board of directors.

Established in 2019 and later accelerated through Y Combinator, the company leverages artificial intelligence to assist pharmaceutical developers in selecting genetic sequences and optimizing their delivery to precise cellular targets. Their proprietary platform, called ALFRED, processes biological datasets to pinpoint therapeutic targets and engineer both genetic payloads and specialized delivery mechanisms for targeted cellular uptake.

The newly secured funds will prioritize preclinical evaluations of gene delivery systems and genetic payloads. WhiteLab’s strategy involves constructing a collection of rigorously tested bio-assets that can be pursued independently or in collaboration with biopharmaceutical firms. Additionally, the company intends to reinforce its Boston operations while establishing new hubs in California, Europe, Japan, and South Korea.

The capital infusion will enable WhiteLab to expand its research across diverse delivery technologies and payload configurations, develop a validated asset pipeline, and engage with global biopharma partners. The company previously secured $10 million in Series A funding in 2022, with Omnes Capital and Debiopharm Innovation Fund co-leading the round.

Separately, Dyno Therapeutics represents another AI-focused firm advancing gene therapy solutions, employing capsid-based approaches to direct treatments toward the brain, eyes, and muscle tissues. Their method modifies viral protein shells, primarily adeno-associated viruses, to transport therapeutic genes into specific human cells.

In October 2024, Dyno expanded its partnership with pharmaceutical leader Roche, receiving a $50 million upfront payment. The collaboration continued in January 2025 when Roche exercised an option to license one of Dyno’s vectors for an undisclosed neurological condition, triggering a $7 million payment. These funds will support further technology refinement and partnership expansion, alongside the development of new gene therapies.
