Servier to use Owkin AI for cancer research

Biotech firm Owkin has reached a deal allowing Servier, the French drugmaker, to utilize its K Pro AI system alongside multimodal patient datasets for cancer research initiatives. Through this arrangement, Servier’s scientific teams gain access to Owkin’s MOSAIC network data for analysis within the K Pro framework.
The K Pro platform integrates diverse patient information with advanced AI tools designed to enhance drug molecule refinement, uncover potential targets, identify biomarkers, classify patient subgroups and optimize clinical trial planning. Owkin emphasizes that the system has been refined using actual patient records and findings from its internal laboratory experiments.
“Our AI scientist is changing the way biopharma works,” Thomas Clozel, cofounder and CEO of Owkin, said in a statement. “By pairing K Pro with Owkin’s multimodal patient data, Servier’s scientists can investigate the biology of hard-to-treat cancers and reach answers that manual analysis alone cannot deliver.”
Claude Bertrand, Servier’s executive vice president overseeing research and development, commented that consolidating patient data with AI-driven analysis will enable faster hypothesis generation and validation. He added that the company anticipates deploying these enhanced capabilities throughout its oncology research programs.

This latest collaboration builds upon a previous partnership established between Owkin and Servier in 2023, which initially focused on employing AI to pinpoint patient groups most likely to benefit from Servier’s therapeutic offerings. Just this past January, Owkin contributed to identifying potential biomarker-based patient classifications for one of Servier’s experimental oncology treatments.
Owkin continues to broaden K Pro’s pharmaceutical industry reach. In May, AstraZeneca finalized a three-year licensing deal to implement AI-driven tools through the platform for strategic research, competitive insights and drug development decision-making. Shortly after, Sanofi signed a five-year agreement to co-develop pharmaceutical agents utilizing K Pro’s capabilities.
Earlier this year, Clozel discussed Owkin’s initiatives to leverage AI and multimodal patient information for uncovering disease mechanisms and guiding therapeutic development.
