BGG Unveils Weight Loss and Brain Health Products

BGG is set to unveil two new product concepts at the SupplySide Global trade show in Las Vegas, focusing on weight management and mental well-being. The company will present a “swicy” beverage formulated with ApplePhenon, a polyphenol- and procyanidin-rich apple extract, alongside snack bars containing TheraPrimE tocotrienols and AstaZine astaxanthin. Officials believe these items address the consumer trend of treating the body as an interconnected system rather than addressing specific needs in isolation.
Weight Management Focus
Chief Scientific Officer Lixin Ding highlighted that weight management remains a dominant market trend, especially as metabolic health gains attention. The company’s beverage concept features a watermelon-tamarind-cayenne flavor profile designed to move beyond the traditional chalky or bland taste associated with weight loss products. Ding emphasized that taste is critical for consumer acceptance, suggesting that modern products must offer an enjoyable and adventurous experience.
The ApplePhenon ingredient is the centerpiece of the weight management offering, with Ding noting it is a clinically proven solution for this specific need state. However, the company acknowledges a crowded market for metabolic health products, a point they discussed at previous events like Vitafoods Europe 2026. By pairing the extract with a “swicy” flavor profile, BGG aims to demonstrate how brands can tap into the growing demand for functional foods that do not sacrifice taste.
Multifunctional Support for the Brain
Formulating products with multiple active ingredients presents technical challenges, as ingredients often do not produce the same results when combined as they do individually. A placebo-controlled study cited by the company showed that the two ingredients worked together to improve both composite and verbal memory.
Expanded Benefits and Product Formulation
The company claims the ingredients support cognitive health, emotional wellness, and sleep. Chief Scientific Officer Lixin Ding notes that consumers see these areas as connected rather than isolated.
