HealthTech Bio Actives (HTBA) has acquired Specnova, a US biotech company specializing in patented and clinically validated ingredient delivery technologies. This marks HTBA’s first acquisition, expanding its portfolio to include advanced systems for improving the bioavailability and sustained release of plant-based actives, vitamins, and minerals.

A strategic partnership

The deal allows both companies to operate independently while collaborating on ingredient solutions for the supplement, food, and beverage industries. Specnova gains access to HTBA’s global commercial network, while HTBA acquires Specnova’s innovative technologies, including the LipoVantage and NovaQSpheres platforms.

Sebastian Balcombe, Specnova’s founder and CEO, emphasizes the shared focus on scientific evidence and customer service. He notes that the partnership will expand their offerings to customers in North America and beyond.

Enhancing product performance

One example of Specnova’s technology is the BodyTech Elite Creatine Beadlets, which use the NovaQSpheres delivery system to prolong muscle feeding and support greater creatine muscle saturation. This product, launched in January 2025, showcases the potential of Specnova’s innovations.

Innovative Product Showcases at SupplySide Global 2026

At the upcoming trade show, HTBA will introduce Leanara, a companion ingredient for consumers using GLP-1 medications, designed to preserve muscle mass and sustain energy levels during weight loss.

Specnova will display its delivery systems, LipoVantage and NovaQSpheres, along with clinically backed branded ingredients like NooGandha liposomal ashwagandha, NordicCherry tart cherry extract, and RiboBeauty redcurrant and blackcurrant extract.

HTBA will also showcase its wider range of functional health ingredients, including MecobalActive, a bioidentical, active form of vitamin B12 for cognitive and physical performance, and DiosVein Forte, a micronized flavonoid fraction developed to support vascular health, circulation, and leg comfort.

Upcoming trade show appearance

Both companies will exhibit at the SupplySide Global 2026 trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, US (Oct 28–30).
